Dirt off your shoulder. Getting back up after tragedy strikes
August 25, 2018
In business there are always going to be trials and tribulations but what matters most is how one gets back up after a big loss. 2017 was probably one of the worst years for the former CEO of Norda industries, the makers of Urban Bites Potato Chips. Faraz Ramji Suffered a huge loss after his warehouse burnt down and he was forced to be out of the market for seven months.
According to Faraz, the journey had been rocky all the way to 2018. In February 2018 his business was caught up in the Imperial Bank Saga which affected their 17 bank accounts, as if that was not enough, Nakumatt having problems in the same year also partly affected them and they stopped supplying Nakumatt, one of their biggest customers.
It takes time to come back from such traumatic experiences, however Faraz Ramji and his team are slowly rebuilding the brand from its ashes. About a month ago they restarted the company and though they are at 30-40% of where they used to be Faraz, is positive that within 2018 they will be able to run at full capacity.
Faraz Ramji, Founder of Norda Industries, was a guest at Founders drink up held in March 2018. To get access to the full podcast, email dream@wearefounders.co.ke.
